Session Overview:

Pupils with SEND have the greatest need for excellent teaching; the attainment gap between pupils with SEND and their peers is twice as big as the gap between pupils eligible for free school meals and their peers. In this programme, evidence-based recommendations will be explored as a starting point for schools to review current approaches. Schools will be supported to write implementation plans focused upon SEND provision.

Sessions will explore:

  • High-quality teaching: metacognitive strategies, scaffolding and flexible grouping
  • Using the Graduated Approach and plotting overlapping needs of the holistic child
  • Supporting TAs and engaging parents to foster a supportive and inclusive environment
